Fresh Start Children Care Limited has been operating since 2007 and was set up to help troubled children, in a quality therapeutic family oriented environment.
We have been focusing on the specific needs of each individual child, to create a care programme specifically for them. Through the delicate integration of three proven techniques; therapeutic parenting, therapy and life story work, we aim to enable children and young people to look forward to a happier fulfilling life.
This approach is successful because it carefully balanced the therapeutic mixture in response to the particular experiences, background and personality of each young person. We will put together sensitive and dedicated teams of carers, including a therapist and life story worker. With specialist skills matched to each individual young person's care and their care programme, this will be implemented, reviewed and measured to enable the healing process.
FSCC young people will live in small homes with a family atmosphere, in the care of carefully chosen trained carers. This will enable them to feel safe within their environment, a vital process to their healing.
Coming from unhappy, often hostile, backgrounds, the children may have a very negative view of family life. Our most important task is to change their perception and refocus their behaviour, so that they can learn to trust those around them and rebuild respect for themselves.
FSCC opened its first home in June 2007, offering placements to 3 children between the ages of 8-18. The young people will have experienced early childhood trauma resulting from sexual, physical and emotional abuse and neglect. They may also have experienced multiple placement break down as a result of attachment issues.
FSCC aim to provide safe, nurturing, stable and a loving environment to young people, with close day –to-day interaction. Our carers can look behind the young person’s apparent behaviour and start to understand the real nature of their distress. The carers will be sensitive to the unique needs, and liaise with the help of the therapeutic team to provide support and appropriate care. Everyone will work closely together to ensure we meet each young person's emotional, social, physical, educational and spiritual needs.
